The great Maharishi Kashyapa and his wife Diti had twin sons namely Hiranyakashipu and Hiranyaksha.Lord Krishna took the form of wild boar which is called as the Varaha avarthara and killed Hiranaksha to save mother earth from adharma. His twin brother Hiranyakashipu developed hatred towards the lord since he has killed his brother. As Hiranyakashipu went for a penance towards lord Brahmadeva to attain mystical powers, his wife Kayadhu was under the care of Naradha while she was pregnant. The unborn child of Hiranyakashipu and kayadhu listened to the greatness of the Lord recited by Naradha when he was in his mothers womb.
Eventually the young boy developed devotion towards Lord Narayana. He was called Prahlada and his devotion towards lord grew day by day much to Hiranyakashiou's disspointment
Despite many warnings Prahlada had strong devotion to lord. His belief was stainless.Frustated by this act, Prahlada's father treid to kill him by numerous ways.He was fed with poison, trampled with elephants, pushed from a mountain, bit by venomous snakes. He survived all the hurdles because of his vairagya(strong love for god).
The day came when Hiranyakashipu himself decided to kill his son.He asked Prahlada if god is everywhere since he is said to be omnipresent. With all devotion Prahlada confessed that Lors is present anywhere and everywhere, both living and non living. He is the paramathma and he resides in all jeevathma.
Hiranyakashipu then pointed a stone pillar and asked if Lord is there. He breaks the pillar with his Mace. With a great sound Lord Narasimha emerges out of the pillar and kiils Hiranyaksha.
This is the best example for a devotion that remains unchanged.Since Lord Narayana did not want his true devotee to wait.So he decided to come out of a pillar instead of a mother's womb which will take 10 months to born.
